The purpose of the role is to lead and manage the Communicable Diseases Branch, provide clinical leadership and specialist advice on significant communicable diseases issues and risks to the Chief Health Officer and Deputy Director-General, Population Health Division, and act as their proxy on aspects of the role as required.
Key Responsibilities
Align the strategic and operational performance of the Communicable Diseases Branch with the strategic directions of the Division and Queensland Health, and Queensland.
Provide state-wide system leadership for the communicable diseases portfolio in collaboration with key stakeholders, including the development, coordination, delivery and performance monitoring of state-wide public health programs and services.
Lead Queensland Health's response to a range of emergent public health issues (incidents) relating to communicable diseases.
Essential Role Requirements
Mandatory requirements are a medical qualification and tertiary qualification in the relevant medical discipline, be registerable with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA), have fellowship with the appropriate college and obtain credentialing with the DOH Credentialing Committee.
You will already be in a senior role (preferably medical) with significant authority and accountability in administering statutory obligations and leading regulatory activities; and demonstrated experience in managing and responding to emergent and significant health threats
Demonstrated executive level leadership at a senior level involving multi-disciplinary programs and diverse work units to achieve efficient, effective, and timely outcomes
Demonstrated ability to apply critical thinking, problem-solving, lean thinking and risk- based decision-making skills in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of a range of communicable disease surveillance, prevention, and control programs of state-wide importance.
