The impact you’ll make
The Field Operations Specialist is responsible for driving the consistent execution of Virgin Active's Food & Beverage operating model across our social wellness club network. Reporting to the National Food & Beverage Manager, this field-based role supports the successful implementation of Virgin Active's food and beverage offerings, including Kauai and U Health, through menu launches, promotions, operational standards and commercial initiatives. Working closely with club leadership teams, the Field Operations Specialist builds operational capability, supports performance improvement and helps deliver exceptional member experiences while contributing to Virgin Active's purpose of changing people's lives for the better through wellness.
What success looks like
Operational Performance
- Conduct regular club visits to assess operational performance and provide hands-on support to Food & Beverage teams.
- Ensure consistent execution of approved operational standards, procedures and service expectations.
- Support clubs to implement Food & Beverage initiatives and operational priorities.
- Identify operational challenges and coordinate solutions with club leadership teams.
- Monitor action plans and follow through on agreed performance improvement activities.
Commercial & Financial Performance
- Monitor club-level sales, labour and food cost performance.
- Analyse operational data and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Support Club General Managers and Food & Beverage teams in implementing actions to improve commercial outcomes.
- Track performance against key performance indicators and escalate risks or trends to the National Food & Beverage Manager.
Execution & Activation
- Coordinate and support the execution of menu launches, seasonal promotions and Food & Beverage activations.
- Support operational readiness for new Kauai & U Health openings and refurbishments.
- Ensure clubs are prepared for launches through training coordination, communication and operational planning.
- Assist with implementation of new products, processes and systems.
Coaching & Capability
- Provide on-the-ground coaching to club-based Food & Beverage teams.
- Support leaders in driving accountability for sales performance, labour management and operational standards.
- Identify capability gaps and provide feedback to the National Food & Beverage Manager.
- Reinforce operational best practice through regular field engagement.
Planning & Coordination
- Deliver operational projects and initiatives as assigned by the National Food & Beverage Manager.
- Coordinate activities across multiple clubs to ensure projects are completed on time and to standard.
- Support testing, implementation and post-launch review of operational initiatives.
- Maintain project updates and communicate progress to stakeholders.
Stakeholder Management
- Build effective working relationships with Club General Managers and Foof & Beverage leaders.
- Act as the primary field contact for Food & Beverage operational support.
- Participate in regular meetings with Virgin Active, Kauai and U Health teams based in South Africa and other key stakeholders as required.
- Provide operational insights and recommendations based on field observations and performance data.

- You have 3+ years' experience in hospitality, food and beverage, retail operations or a multi-site operational support role, supported by relevant qualifications or equivalent industry experience, and can work a non-traditional schedule with regular travel between club locations.
- You have aligned experience. You understand how to drive operational execution across multiple sites and use performance data to improve commercial outcomes.
