About Us
Z Protection Services is a growing Victorian security company providing professional security solutions across Melbourne, Ballarat, Geelong and regional Victoria.
We are expanding our electronic security division and are looking for a reliable and experienced Security Technician to join our team. This role will suit someone who takes pride in quality workmanship, can work independently, and understands the importance of delivering professional service to commercial, construction, residential and industrial clients.
About the Role
You will be responsible for installing, servicing, maintaining and commissioning electronic security systems across client sites. The role will include CCTV, alarm systems, access control, intercoms and related security technology.
You will work across a variety of sites, including commercial premises, construction sites, offices, residential properties, retail sites and other client locations.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, service and maintain CCTV systems, alarm systems, access control, intercoms and related security equipment.
- Carry out cabling, fit-off, testing, fault-finding and commissioning works.
- Attend client sites in a professional and organised manner.
- Diagnose faults and complete repairs where required.
- Prepare accurate job notes, photos, reports and service documentation.
- Work safely and follow company procedures, site requirements and industry standards.
- Communicate clearly with clients, management and other team members.
- Support after-hours or urgent call-outs where required.
- Represent Z Protection Services professionally at all times.
What We Are Looking For
- Previous experience as a Security Technician, Security Installer, Electronic Security Technician or similar role.
- Experience with CCTV, alarms, access control and intercom systems.
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage jobs from start to finish.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- High attention to detail and pride in workmanship.
- Current Australian driver’s licence.
- Current Victorian private security licence for security equipment installer activity, or ability to obtain the required licence.
- White Card preferred.
- Police Check or ability to obtain one.
- Working With Children Check preferred.
Desirable Experience
- Experience with commercial security systems.
- Experience working on construction, retail, corporate or industrial sites.
- Knowledge of networking, IP cameras, NVRs, alarm panels and access control systems.
- Data cabling or electrical background.
- Experience with brands such as Hikvision, Dahua, Bosch, Inner Range, Tecom, Gallagher, Integriti or similar systems.
