The Role
We are seeking an experienced System Analyst to join a Defence-focused program supporting data analysis, data modelling, and information management initiatives.
This role is suited to a highly analytical professional who can work closely with business and technical stakeholders to understand data requirements, analyse complex information sources, and develop data models that support critical business and operational outcomes.
You will play a key role in translating business needs into data-driven solutions while contributing to the design, improvement, and ongoing management of enterprise information and data assets.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse business and system requirements to identify data and information needs.
- Develop logical and physical data models to support business and technical requirements.
- Perform data analysis, profiling, validation, and quality assessments across multiple data sources.
- Work with stakeholders to understand information flows, business processes, and reporting requirements.
- Document data structures, mappings, definitions, and business rules.
- Support the design and implementation of data integration and information management solutions.
- Conduct gap analysis and provide recommendations for data improvements.
- Assist in the development of reporting, analytics, and decision-support capabilities.
- Collaborate with architects, developers, business analysts, and project teams.
- Contribute to data governance, standards, and information management practices.
- Produce high-quality documentation, including requirements, specifications, and process artefacts.
What You'll Need
- Experience in System Analysis, Data Analysis, or Information Management roles.
- Strong experience in data analysis, data modelling, and data management practices.
- Ability to analyse complex business requirements and translate them into data-focused solutions.
- Experience developing logical and physical data models.
- Strong understanding of data structures, relationships, and information architecture principles.
- Experience documenting requirements, business rules, and data mappings.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and documentation abilities.
- Experience working with enterprise data environments and reporting solutions.
- Experience within Defence or another Commonwealth Government environment is highly regarded.
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
