ASC is Australia’s submarine company. We built the Royal Australian Navy’s Collins Class submarines, sustain them, and are now delivering their Life of Type Extension to increase the boats’ service lives. We have also been selected by the Australian Government to sustain and jointly build the nation’s nuclear-powered submarines – the largest and most complex industrial undertaking in Australia’s history.
Our work is interesting and meaningful, contributing directly to Australia’s national security. We offer rewarding roles that provide the opportunity to grow your career, and the flexibility to balance life and work. A career at ASC is like no other, delivering a deeper purpose we can all be proud of.
About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Program Change Manager – LOTE, the Data Rights Lead plays a critical role in delivering ASC’s technical data and software rights obligations under the Collins Class Life of Type Extension (LOTE) program. Operating within a complex, multi-stakeholder defence environment, this role is responsible for the end-to-end ownership and delivery of key contractual data rights artefacts.
You will work at the intersection of program delivery, commercial governance, and supply chain assurance — coordinating across engineering, procurement, legal, and Commonwealth stakeholders to ensure data rights obligations are accurately captured, maintained, and achieved in line with ASDEFCON frameworks and program milestone requirements. This is a hands-on delivery role suited to someone who thrives in a technical data/intellectual property framework, takes ownership of outcomes, and is motivated by driving tangible program results.
This is a full-time opportunity based at our Osborne site in SA.
Responsibilities
- Collaborating with internal stakeholders to deliver key data rights artefacts in line with contractual requirements and maintain accurate, audit-ready registers across the program
- Lead the population, ongoing maintenance and continuous improvement of the data rights artefacts
- Ensure all data rights deliverables are submitted in accordance with program milestones and schedule commitments
- Identify, manage, and resolve data rights risks and issues to support program delivery outcomes
- Coordinate and oversee subcontractor data rights assurance activities to ensure compliance with contractual obligations
- Engage effectively with Commonwealth stakeholders on data rights matters and deliverables
- Collaborate across engineering, procurement, commercial, and legal teams to capture and validate data rights positions
About you
- The role would be well suited for someone with a background in procurement, commercial and/or legal, with proven experience within a complex, multi-stakeholder environment (ideally defence or government)
- An understanding of the ASDEFCON Technical Data/Intellectual Property framework would be preferable
- Experience managing technical data, intellectual property, or data rights obligations in a project/program context
- Highly delivery-focused, with strong personal accountability for meeting milestones and outcomes
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build credibility and trust across internal and external parties
- High attention to detail while maintaining a clear focus on broader program objectives
- Ability to coordinate across multiple functions and suppliers to achieve aligned outcomes
- Strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to maintain audit-ready documentation
