What you'll do
As an Engineering Manager, you'll leverage your deep technical expertise and leadership skills to guide and inspire a team of highly skilled engineers. You'll ensure the delivery of robust, scalable, and secure technology solutions that underpin Woolworths' digital ecosystem. Your leadership will be crucial in fostering a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the engineering team, driving innovation and delivering exceptional results for the business.
This role will have a significant impact on the development and maintenance of Woolworths' digital products and services, collaborating closely with product managers, designers, and business stakeholders across the organisation.

Lead & Mentor Engineering Team: Guide, mentor, and inspire a team of engineers across various disciplines (software development, cloud infrastructure, data engineering), fostering a positive and collaborative environment that encourages professional growth and a passion for building high-quality technology solutions.

Drive Technical Excellence & Innovation: Establish and maintain high standards for code quality, engineering practices, and architectural design within the team. Encourage experimentation with new technologies and approaches to drive innovation and continuous improvement.

Shape Engineering Strategy & Vision: Collaborate with product and business stakeholders to define and implement a cohesive engineering strategy that aligns with Woolworths' overall business objectives and supports the delivery of exceptional digital experiences.

Ensure Operational Excellence: Champion operational excellence by implementing robust monitoring, alerting, and incident management processes. Proactively identify and mitigate risks to ensure system stability, performance, and security.

Facilitate Collaboration & Communication: Foster strong working relationships with cross-functional teams, including product management, design, and operations. Effectively communicate technical decisions, progress updates, and roadblocks to stakeholders at all levels.
What You’ll Bring

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

7+ years of experience in software development, with a minimum of 3 years in a leadership role.

Experience working with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).

Strong understanding of DevOps principles and practices.

Experience with Agile methodologies and tools.
