Product Manager - Product
Full-time | Hybrid role | Brisbane or Sydney
Competitive base salary + generous performance incentives
Join Canstar Group and make a real difference every day!
At Canstar, we are continually enhancing how we engage with customers across our key comparison verticals. We are looking for a Product Manager to join our core Product team, focusing on the platforms and automated workflows that power our customer engagement and internal operations.
In this role, you will work closely with engineering, UX, and key internal stakeholders (including marketing, contact centre teams, and in-house brokers) to turn operational challenges into smart product solutions. You will own and execute features that streamline the customer journey while making day-to-day work easier and more efficient for our frontline teams.
What You'll Do
-
Innovate: Build and maintain a deep understanding of the comparison industry, key players, regulatory landscape and future direction. Identify client and partner products and features that add value to the marketplace, and keep across competitor activity.
- Deliver the Engagement Roadmap: Partner with the Group Manager, Product as well as senior Product Managers to define, prioritize, and execute feature roadmaps that improve customer workflows and internal automation.
- Design Solutions: Immerse yourself in the problem to be solved, define solution descriptions in enough detail for build to commence, and write user stories with sufficiently detailed requirements for development. Engage legal early to ensure products are compliant with AFSL and ACL licensing rules.
- Solve Internal User Pain Points: Work directly with marketing specialists, contact centre agents, and brokers to understand their daily workflows, eliminate manual friction, and build tools that drive operational efficiency.
- Lead Discovery: Conduct continuous user and problem discovery, ensuring we
- thoroughly understand the business problem before jumping into solution mode.
- Balance Trade-offs: Help evaluate cross-vertical needs to balance bespoke requests against scalable, shared solutions, including assisting with "build vs. buy" evaluations.
- Squad Delivery: Work day-to-day with software engineers and UX designers in an agile setup - running stand ups, capturing requirements, and managing the backlog.
- Collaborate & Communicate: Act as the bridge between teams, translating frontline operational feedback into technical requirements and keeping stakeholders informed up and down the business.
- Drive Commercial Outcomes: Own the commercial aspects of product management, including ROI, and analyse behavioural and digital data to identify patterns, trends and opportunities for improvement.
Who we are looking for
-
Experienced Product Leader: 3-5 years' experience in product management, working directly with engineering and design teams to deliver impactful products on time and within scope in an agile environment.
- Relevant Background: A degree in business, engineering or a related field, or equivalent professional experience in a relevant product role.
- Strong Communicator: Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to foster teamwork and communicate clearly and simply with senior stakeholders translating complex technical terminology for non-technical audiences.
- Customer-Centred: A deep understanding of product management principles, market dynamics and customer needs, with a solid grasp of UX principles and the ability to align product initiatives with broader business strategy.
- Data-Driven: A solid understanding of data analytics and how to use data to make informed decisions that drive customer engagement and revenue growth.
- Efficiency Drive: Motivated by improving operational metrics, saving team hours, and creating smooth user journeys.
- Problem-First Mindset: You focus on understanding the root user problem and commercial objective, remaining open-minded and tool-agnostic about the ultimate solution.
- Proactive & Collaborative: Comfortable taking ownership of discovery tasks, managing competing priorities, and driving solutions forward autonomously.
