Primary objective
Provide strategic advice, coordination, support, and project management of the Prevocational Medical Assurance Services (PMAS)
activities across the Northern Territory (NT).
Context statement
PMAS is a business unit within NT Health’s Office of the Chief Medical Officer and is responsible for supporting, promoting and
overseeing prevocational medical education and training across the NT. PMAS delivers this through managing NT prevocational
accreditation, collaborating on recruitment policies and processes, coordinating the NT Bonded Medical Scheme, contributing to
workforce planning and mapping, and monitoring the wellbeing of prevocational medical trainees.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Coordinate and undertake a range of project deliverables associated with the PMAS such as system coordination and
management within prevocational accreditation, education and training, pastoral care, and medical workforce planning.
2. Incorporate impacts of current and future prevocational accreditation at local and national levels that will shape the project
deliverables and consequently PMAS initiatives.
3. Provide well researched, briefings, reports and other material to a high standard providing quality strategic advice and evidence
on issues and developments relating to prevocational accreditation and other PMAS functions.
4. Work collaboratively with key stakeholders (internal and external) to maintain strong relationships.
5. Provide secretariat role for committees as required.
6. Follow defined service quality standards, Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) policies and procedures relating to the work
being undertaken to ensure high quality, safe services, and workplaces.
7. Foster a positive workplace culture through exemplary leadership practices and role modelling behaviour.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Extensive knowledge of processes and principles related to project planning and management, including change management
to effectively navigate and implement project initiatives in a health environment.
2. Highly developed knowledge of continuous improvement models, auditing/accreditation frameworks, and processes relevant
to health education and training programs.
3. High level organisational skills and a demonstrated ability to successfully manage concurrent projects.
4. High level interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills, with the ability to analyse and clearly communicate issues in
various formats.
5. Good understanding of the structures and processes of government, the roles and responsibilities of other agencies, and the
relationships and frameworks needed to ensure delivery of outcomes.
6. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a small team, using judgement, initiative, and a solution focused
approach to support delivery of PMAS functions.
Desirable
1. Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline to the position.
