We are looking for a practical, hands-on Smart Systems Support Engineer to join our growing technical team.
About the Role
This is a hands-on technical role, not a desk-based support position.
As a Smart Systems Support Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting, troubleshooting, maintaining, and assisting with implementation of smart home and intelligent building systems across both remote support and onsite environments.
A significant part of this role involves attending customer sites, construction projects, apartment buildings, and completed installations across Sydney to diagnose issues, test systems, replace devices, assist with commissioning, and resolve technical faults.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with technology in real-world environments, is confident using tools and equipment, and has strong practical problem-solving skills.
You will work across technologies including:

Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical Support & Field Service
- Provide both remote and onsite technical support for smart home and intelligent building systems
- Attend residential and commercial project sites across Sydney for fault diagnosis, maintenance, repairs, and system support
- Diagnose and resolve issues related to:
- lighting control
- automation logic
- touch panels
- smart switches
- access control
- CCTV integration
- intercom systems
- HVAC integration
- AV systems
- energy management platforms
- Replace faulty devices, perform system testing, firmware upgrades, and preventative maintenance
- Troubleshoot IP networking issues affecting connected smart systems
- Escalate complex technical issues where required
Project Support
- Assist with system commissioning, testing, and handover activities
- Support project engineers during implementation and defect resolution
- Assist with onsite device installation, setup, configuration, and optimisation
- Participate in technical investigations and site troubleshooting
Documentation & Communication
- Maintain service records and support tickets
- Document troubleshooting steps and resolutions
- Communicate professionally with customers regarding issue progress and outcomes
About YouEssential Skills / Experience
- 2+ years’ experience in technical support, systems support, field service, or a similar hands-on technical role
- Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding skills
- Practical hands-on ability and confidence working onsite with hardware and connected systems
- Comfortable attending active construction sites, apartment buildings, and customer premises
- Good understanding of IP networking:
- DHCP
- Static IP
- Wi-Fi troubleshooting
- Routers / switches
- Basic VLAN knowledge
- Comfortable working with both hardware and software systems
- Strong communication skills
- Self-motivated and able to work independently
- Full Australian driver licence
