Are you passionate about aquaculture? Come and work in the Nursery at Australia’s only ocean-grown barramundi farm! You will initially be working on our island, Cone Bay, working a 3 weeks on, 3 weeks off roster, you will then transition to our Broome Aquaculture Park, working a 5 on, 2 off roster. This is a full time, permanent position.
Cone Bay: You will be working on the beautiful island of Cone Bay in the remote coastlines of the Buccaneer Archipelago. Tassal provides accommodation, a gym and all meals on the island, and we provide transport from Broome to the island.
What does your week look like?
Feeding barramundi: Perform daily basic tasks involved in Barramundi Nursery, including feed preparation and feeding.
Fish Health Duties: Routine overview and sampling of fish health using basic microscopy and visual observation. Identify, diagnose, escalate and problem-solve all fish health issues that arise in a timely manner.
Checking water quality: Water quality sampling and testing using different tools.
Implement Biosecurity Protocols: Perform routine tasks to prevent disease outbreaks and maintain a healthy environment, including disinfection and cleaning nursery tanks and equipment.
General animal husbandry: Routine overview of animal husbandry and health, escalating potential issues in a timely manner.
What can you bring?
- Aquaculture or Nursery / Hatchery experience
- Tertiary qualifications in aquaculture, marine science or marine biology (desirable)
- Coxswain ticket (desirable)
- Strong communication skills.
- Self-management, organisation and decision making skills.
- Ability to pass a pre employment medical, and alcohol and drug test.
- Rights to work full time in Australia.
