Reporting to the Head of engineering the Senior Signalling Designer to provide high‑quality signalling design and engineering assurance services across a diverse portfolio of rail projects supported by our team.

About role:
You will provide technical expertise, leading development and assurance of high-quality signalling solutions. This role combines technical design expertise, project coordination and stakeholder engagement working across project lifecycle. You will lead and manage design quality, complex technical problems, type approvals and support delivery teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and deliver safe, compliant, and commercially effective signalling engineering solutions across a portfolio of rail projects.
- Evaluate emerging signalling technologies and products to provide recommendations to capability, performance, and long-term network sustainability.
- Lead and support the Type Approval process for new signalling systems and products.
- Drive continuous improvement and innovation by identifying opportunities to delivery efficient outcomes.
- Engage and coordinate with key stakeholders to support operational readiness, commissioning activities, and preparation of key design and assurance documentation.
Skills and Experience
- Degree in electrical engineering
- RPEQ – Electrical Engineering
- Chartered Engineer status - desirable
- 10+ years of experience in railway signal design with 2+ years’ experience with Queensland Rail.
- A thorough understanding of the typical engineering management, project development and implementation lifecycles
- Exceptional written and interpersonal skills including the ability to develop documentation and manage stakeholder requirements.
- Mentor and support the development of engineers within the team.
