Motor Mechanic – Airport Automatics
Airport Automatics is a well-established automatic transmission specialist seeking a qualified and experienced Motor Mechanic to join our well-established, friendly and professional team.
About the Role
This is a hands-on position where you will be responsible for diagnosing, servicing, repairing, removing, and installing automatic transmissions on all makes and models of vehicles. The role requires the use of diagnostic equipment, technical expertise, and adherence to workplace safety standard to ensure vehicles are operating safely and efficiently. You will work alongside a supportive team committed to delivering high-quality workmanship and excellent customer service.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform regular inspections, servicing, and repairs of automatic transmissions on all makes and models of vehicles.
- Diagnose transmission faults and carry out repairs efficiently.
- Assist with the removal and installation of automatic transmissions.
- Use computerized diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot vehicle issues.
- Use of hand tools, power tools, hoists, and diagnostic equipment.
- Replace worn or defective parts and components.
- Conduct road tests before and after repairs to verify vehicle performance and safety.
- Ensure all repairs comply with Australian safety and roadworthiness standards.
- Follow all Work Health and Safety (WHS) policies and procedures.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workshop environment.
- Work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Communicate with management regarding repair requirements and recommendations.
Essential Requirements
- Fully qualified Motor Mechanic (relevant trade qualification required).
- Minimum of ‘1 year' post-qualification experience.
- Experience and Strong knowledge of automatic transmissions and vehicle servicing and repairs.
- Knowledge of Work Health and Safety (WHS) practices.
- Physically fit and capable of carrying out the manual tasks required in a busy workshop.
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail, strong work ethic and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Current driver's licence required.
