About the Opportunity
The Assistant Project Manager (APM) is accountable to the Program Manager and works under the day-to-day direction of Project Managers to support the efficient execution of projects across the Transformation Office. The APM plays a key role in enabling delivery by working across multiple projects to provide hands-on coordination, analysis, and structured support to achieve delivery outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Support the project managers in initiating, planning, executing, monitoring, controlling and closing out project activities including integration, scope, schedule, cost, quality, performance, risk, change, procurement management.
- Manage discrete work packages or sub-projects.
- Planning, developing and maintaining performance baselines as well as measuring work progress, analysing variances and developing corrective actions.
- Support Project Risk and Opportunity reviews, with the development and proactive management of risk mitigation / opportunity realisation strategies.
- Daily liaison with Program’s project teams, functional teams and key stakeholders to drive outcomes.
- Support the Program Manager in driving a consistent and high quality project delivery
About you
- Tertiary Qualifications in Project Management, Program Management, Business Management, Information Management, or commensurate demonstrated experience in lieu of formal qualifications.
- Experience and skills in project coordination, management, governance, reporting and stakeholder management.
- Intermediate MS Project skills and advanced knowledge in SharePoint.
- Experience or demonstration of skills related to the functions of a Program Management Office.
- Exposure to delivering projects in complex, matrixed environments.
- Experience in delivering or part of a team responsible for delivering a significant IT upgrade or replacement program.
- Developing proficiency with project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Jira, Trello, or equivalent).
- Risk and Issue identification and management
- Experience and skills in stakeholder management across varying levels of technical teams, vendors, partners and other business stakeholders.
- Developing knowledge in digital business concepts.
- Experience in delivering positive change in ways of working through front-line operational experience or a formal project.
- An understanding of corporate strategy principles, organisational dynamics and understanding of business processes, policies, tools and methodologies.
Eligibility
This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.
