Quality Technologist, Oceania (15-Month Contract)
The Quality Technologist plays a key role in ensuring that raw materials, in-process products and finished goods meet established quality, food safety, regulatory and customer requirements. With strong focus on Quality Control and Sensory activities, you will be involved in routine sensory evaluations, analytical testing, product release support and investigation of quality-related issues, ensuring products consistently meet specifications, customer expectations and regulatory standards.
Additionally, you will provide valuable support to the QA team through environmental monitoring, GMP inspections, internal audits, food safety initiatives, documentation review and continuous improvement projects.
This position offers broad exposure across QC, QA, food safety, sensory evaluation and quality systems within a manufacturing environment.
The Position:
- Perform routine sensory evaluations of raw materials, in-process materials and finished products against established specifications and reference standards
- Conduct analytical testing on raw materials and finished products including RI, SG, salt content, particle size and Brookfield viscosity
- Maintain accurate laboratory records, inspection plans and test result in SAP
- Investigate out-of-specification results and support root cause investigations
- Maintain, calibrate and verify laboratory equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability of test results
- Support product release activities to meet operational and quality requirements
- Conduct environmental monitoring activities and follow up on required actions
- Participate in GMP inspections, internal audits and quality checks
- Support food safety initiatives and continuous improvement projects
- Assist with the review and maintenance of IMS procedures and quality documentation
- Support customer, certification and regulatory audits as required
- Attend Food Safety Committee meetings and complete assigned follow-up actions
- Provide backup support to the Quality team during planned or unplanned absences including:
- Customer complaint logging and administration
- Food safety and quality investigations
- Corrective action tracking and follow-up
- Other critical QA activities as required
The Ideal Candidate:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology or related discipline
- At least 2 years of relevant experience in Quality Control or food manufacturing environment
- Familiar with laboratory testing procedures, quality checks and documentation requirements.
- Good understanding of food safety, quality systems and manufacturing practices
- Strong communication, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
- Experience with SAP, internal audits, external audit support of food safety system such as GMP, HACCP and FSSC 22000 would be advantageous
