The Vascular Surgery term at Royal North Shore Hospital (RNSH) offers junior doctors the opportunity to develop their clinical and surgical skills within a busy tertiary service managing a broad range of complex vascular conditions.
Working alongside experienced Vascular Surgeons, Trainees and multidisciplinary teams, trainees are actively involved in all aspects of patient care, including acute presentations, inpatient management, perioperative care, outpatient clinics and emergency consultations. The role provides exposure to a diverse range of vascular conditions, including peripheral arterial disease, aneurysmal disease, carotid artery disease, diabetic foot complications, venous disorders and vascular trauma.
As a major tertiary referral and trauma centre, RNSH cares for patients requiring both open and endovascular interventions, providing valuable insight into contemporary vascular surgical practice. Trainees gain experience in the assessment and optimisation of surgical patients, management of complex comorbidities, postoperative care and multidisciplinary decision-making.

What you'll be doing
The primary purpose of the position is to provide effective clinical management of Endovascular and Vascular surgical patients, under appropriate supervision, whilst developing expertise in medical practice, in a complex clinical environment. The Provisional Fellow is the key person who works closely with all members of a multi-disciplinary team and deals with matters of an urgent or sensitive nature, whilst exercising discretion, sensitivity and maintaining confidentiality. The position aims to provide training for General Surgeons who have an interest in Vascular surgery and wishing to further develop skills and experience in managing surgical patients.

MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.

Evidence of Vascular Surgery specific research projects completed or being undertaken.

Evidence of continued professional development specific to vascular surgery and commitment to self-education and teaching undergraduate and postgraduates.
