The Pool Lifeguard position involves many tasks and responsibilities to minimise risks within the aquatic environment and respond to actual or imminent threats to the safety of individuals within the aquatic facility.
WORK TASKS + RESPONSIBILITIES
Tasks include but not limited to:
Provide exceptional customer service at all times, ensuring clear and friendly communication with the community, staff, and members.
Maintain a clean, neat, and professional appearance consistently.
Patrol assigned pool areas to ensure a safe recreational environment, monitor activities, and direct public usage to ensure safety.
Implement and comply with all facility safety procedures, training requirements, and document control, including adherence to WHS guidelines.
Maintain a working knowledge and understanding of the Facilities Emergency Action Plan.
Take reasonable care for your own health and safety, and for the health and safety of others.
Contribute to building and maintaining strong team cohesion, ensuring effective communication with all team members.
Maintain all necessary accreditations and commit to continued professional development.
Assist the Facility / Duty Manager in the daily operations of the Centre, including maintaining the plant room and associated equipment.
Conduct water treatment tests, maintain water quality in accordance with Health Department Guidelines, and operate pool equipment as per procedures.
Assist in the set up and pack up lesson equipment neatly in designated teaching areas when required.
Report on pool incidents and take appropriate, timely action to address and resolve matters.
Maintain and clean the pools and surrounding areas to established standards.
Provide information and advice on programs, pools, and safe pool practices to the public as needed.
Have a good understanding of supervision strategies, visibility barriers and patrol methods at their facility.
Ability to identify HIGH risk patrons and apply correct supervision attention.
