About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Facilities Coordinator to support the delivery of safe, reliable, and efficient facilities operations across Austal Defence Australia (ADA).
In this role, you will work closely with the Facilities Manager to oversee day‑to‑day operations, coordinate maintenance activities, manage service contractors, and ensure site infrastructure and utilities are maintained to a high standard.
You will play a key role in ensuring facilities remain compliant, functional, and fit for purpose, while also supporting continuous improvement initiatives across multiple sites within the Henderson Precinct.

What’s Involved

Coordinate day‑to‑day facilities maintenance, including repairs, work orders, and service delivery

Manage contractors and service providers, ensuring performance against agreed standards

Act as the primary point of contact for facility‑related requests and issue resolution

Support workplace safety compliance, inspections, and incident reporting
-
Maintain site housekeeping standards across all facilities
-
Assist with space planning, office relocations, and internal moves
-
Manage facility assets and inventory, including lifecycle tracking and replacements

Maintain documentation, permits, and compliance records
-
Support procurement activities, including raising purchase requisitions
-
Oversee building access, visitor management, and assist with site security coordination

Assist with emergency response, drills, and safety systems

Provide reporting and communicate planned works and impacts to stakeholders

Identify opportunities for continuous improvement, sustainability, and cost optimisation

Coordinate waste management and support environmental initiatives
You’ll Need
Essential
-
Extensive experience (10+ years) in facilities, maintenance, or infrastructure management within heavy industry (e.g. shipbuilding, manufacturing, mining, oil & gas)
- Proven experience managing contractors and multi‑site facilities operations

Strong knowledge of maintenance planning, asset lifecycle management, and facilities services delivery

Expertise in WHS/OHS compliance and safety standards

Experience using maintenance management systems (CMMS/EAM or equivalent)

Strong stakeholder engagement, communication, and problem‑solving skills

Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced, operational environment
Desirable

Experience within defence, government, or regulated environments

Exposure to digital transformation in facilities or asset management systems

Relevant high‑risk work licences (EWP, rigging, forklift, etc.)

Experience with permits (confined space, working at heights)

Security clearance or ability to obtain one
