About the Role We are seeking an experienced
HSE Manager to lead EPEC’s Health, Safety & Environmental function. This is a strategic leadership role responsible for driving HSE governance, risk management, assurance frameworks, and performance across the organization.
Reporting to senior leadership, you will play a critical role in building capability, influencing operational leaders, and ensuring a safe, compliant, and high-performing environment as the business continues to grow.
Key Responsibilities
HSE Strategy & Leadership
- Develop and implement HSE strategy, objectives, and improvement initiatives
- Provide leadership and direction on all HSE matters across the organization
- Partner with executive and operational leaders to embed HSE into business decisions
- Drive a culture of accountability and strong HSE ownership
Governance, Risk & Assurance
- Lead HSE governance frameworks and ensure legislative compliance
- Maintain ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 certifications
- Oversee audits, inspections, and assurance activities
- Establish and monitor critical risk management frameworks
- Provide strategic reporting to executive leadership and board
Operational Support
- Provide expert HSE support across projects and operational teams
- Support major project mobilization and high-risk work programs
- Guide teams on client-specific HSE requirements and compliance obligations
Sustainability
- Support development of sustainability and decarbonization strategies
- Monitor and report on energy, emissions, and resource use
- Drive initiatives such as energy efficiency, electrification, and waste reduction
Leadership & Capability Development
- Lead and develop the HSE team
- Build HSE capability across operational leadership teams
- Drive continuous improvement and professional development
Performance & Continuous Improvement
- Develop and track HSE performance metrics
- Analyze performance trends and implement improvement initiatives
- Promote innovation, systems improvement, and best practices
About You
Essential
- Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Management, or similar
- 10+ years’ HSE experience in construction, infrastructure, utilities, or energy sectors
- Proven experience leading HSE functions in complex, multi-project environments
- Strong knowledge of WHS and environmental legislation
- Experience with ISO 45001 & ISO 14001 systems
- Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders and drive cultural change
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- White Card & valid Driver’s License
Desirable
- Experience in renewables, substations, transmission, or utilities
- Lead Auditor qualification
- Experience with incident investigation methodologies (ICAM, TapRoot)
- Exposure to Federal Safety Accreditation
- Experience reporting at executive or board level
