ConnectSydney, a joint venture of ServiceStream, Boral, and Johnson Controls, in partnership with Transport for NSW, is entrusted with the management of the Harbour Zone. Our responsibilities encompass routine maintenance, strategic enhancements, and specialised projects aimed at bolstering Sydney's transport infrastructure.

We are currently looking for a talented, motivated, and driven individual to join our well-established Environmental Management Team within ConnectSydney's Engineering portfolio as an Environmental Advisor. The position will be based out of our office in Rockdale, NSW. This is a long-term project with the potential to extend, and you have the opportunity to support a diverse range of sites including the most iconic structures in Sydney.
About the role
You will be preparing environmental assessment documentation to meet legislative and governmental requirements and providing environmental advice and support as part of business operations for a diverse range of projects. You will also undertake site monitoring activities to validate environmental safeguards at project sites and work closely with each of the business portfolios, ConnectSydney partners and external stakeholders to identify environmental management best practice outcomes.
Preparing environmental assessment documentation to support the delivery of construction and maintenance works.
Providing environmental advice and support to various business portfolios.
Liaising with TfNSW Environmental staff, specialist consultants and other government agencies regarding compliance and assessment documentation.
Developing environmental work method statements in conjunction with Project Engineers and Site Supervisors.
Assisting in the development of Construction Environmental Management Plans.
Conducting environmental monitoring activities to facilitate environmental safeguards for construction and maintenance works.
Raising incidents and managing non-conformances where required.
Carrying out incident investigations where required.
Actively participating in environmental risk management needs for various projects.
Assisting in the preparation of monthly environment reports.
Presenting environmental topics during toolbox talks and pre-work briefings.
Participating and assisting in compliance audit activities.
About you
Our ideal candidate will have:
Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Environmental Science, Environmental Planning or Environmental Management.
Experience as an Environment Advisor or similar role, including an understanding of the civil construction industry.
Minimum of 2 years experience in a role working in preparing and assessing environmental assessments.
Proven experience with working with Transport for New South Wales Environmental team (desirable).
An understanding of AS/NZS ISO14001 (desirable).
