Court Services Victoria provides corporate services and facilities to support the performance of the judicial, quasi-judicial and administrative functions of Victoria's courts and tribunal, Judicial College and Judicial Commission.
Collectively, Victoria's Supreme, County, Magistrates', Children's, and Coroners courts, the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT), the Judicial College of Victoria, the Judicial Commission of Victoria, and Court Services Victoria (CSV) are referred to as the `Courts Group'.

VCAT
VCAT resolves civil and administrative disputes and reviews decisions made by government and other authorities. Matters before the Tribunal include residential tenancies, planning and environment disputes, consumer and building matters, guardianship and administration, professional regulation and human rights. These disputes affect individuals, businesses and government and play an important role in Victoria's social and economic life.
About the Role
VCAT is seeking an exceptional Senior Advisor to the President to provide trusted strategic, policy and executive support to the President of Victoria's largest tribunal.
Working at the heart of the organisation, you will partner closely with the President, CEO and Executive Team to deliver high-quality advice, executive communications and strategic initiatives that support VCAT's leadership, governance and public service objectives.
This is a unique opportunity for a highly capable advisor who thrives in a fast-paced, politically sensitive environment and enjoys working on complex organisational and justice sector issues.
As Senior Advisor to the President, you will:
- Develop high-quality briefings, submissions, correspondence and strategic advice for the President.
- Prepare speeches, presentations, talking points and executive communications.
- Lead research and analysis on complex policy, governance and justice sector matters.
- Coordinate leadership forums, governance activities and strategic planning processes.
- Support engagement with senior stakeholders across government, courts, tribunals and the justice sector.
- Identify emerging risks, opportunities and priorities, providing practical recommendations to inform decision-making.
- Build strong working relationships across the President's Chambers, Executive, member leadership and corporate areas.
About You
You are a strategic thinker and trusted advisor with outstanding communication skills and sound judgement. You can quickly understand complex issues, navigate sensitive environments and translate analysis into clear, actionable advice.
You will bring:
- Experience in policy, executive advisory, governance, strategic communications or a related field.
- Exceptional writing skills, including experience preparing briefings, speeches, executive correspondence and reports.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability, with the ability to synthesise complex information and provide practical recommendations.
- Well-developed stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
- Political acumen, professionalism and discretion when handling sensitive matters.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Tertiary qualifications in law, public policy, public administration, communications or a related discipline (desirable)
- Experience within government, the justice sector, courts, tribunals or statutory authorities (desirable)
- Understanding of Victorian Government decision-making and governance frameworks (desirable)
