The Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 2 in Palliative Care will provide safe, compassionate, quality, person centred specialist care and work in collaboration with patients/families/carers and a multidisciplinary team to achieve identified goals and outcomes.

- Exercises extended autonomy of decision making, professional knowledge and judgment in providing complex care requiring advanced clinical skills.
- Effectively communicate in a person centred manner with patients/consumers, carers and the multidisciplinary health care team to ensure the provision of safe, compassionate, quality care.
- Take responsibility and accountability for clinical practice, critical reflection, professional development and performance review.
- Actively participate in the support, teaching, coaching and development of others.
- Carry out nursing practice in accordance with legislation, common law, Registered Nurse Standards for Practice, Code of Professional Conduct for Nurses, the Australian Nursing Council Inc (ANCI) Code of Ethics Australia and take action to rectify any unsafe nursing practice or unprofessional behaviour in the workplace.
- Act in accordance with the NSW Health Code of Conduct and model the behaviours outlined in the Transforming Your Experience and Leadership Strategies.
- Demonstrates a high level of confidence and clinical proficiency in carrying out a range of procedures, treatments and interventions that are evidenced based and are within scope of clinical practice guidelines and ability.
