Salary: $85,000 – $95,000 per annum plus superannuation
The Claisebrook Bar is a busy waterfront venue located in Claisebrook Cove, East Perth, offering modern pub dining, events and hospitality services in a vibrant social setting. We are currently seeking an experienced Chef to join our kitchen team on a full-time basis.
The successful applicant will be responsible for preparing, cooking and presenting high-quality dishes in accordance with company standards while assisting in the overall coordination of kitchen operations and ensuring efficient service delivery during busy periods.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preparing, cooking and presenting a variety of dishes in accordance with menu specifications and quality standards
- Assisting with menu planning, seasonal menu development and daily specials
- Monitoring food preparation, portion control and presentation to maintain consistency and minimise wastage
- Coordinating kitchen operations during service periods to ensure meals are delivered within required timeframes
- Ordering food supplies and kitchen stock while maintaining appropriate inventory levels
- Monitoring food costs, stock rotation and storage procedures to ensure quality control and minimise wastage
- Supervising and supporting kitchen staff during food preparation and service
- Assisting with staff training and maintaining effective kitchen teamwork
- Ensuring compliance with food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety requirements
- Monitoring kitchen equipment and arranging maintenance or repairs where required
- Liaising with management and suppliers regarding stock requirements and kitchen operations
Qualifications and Experience Required:
- Relevant AQF Diploma or Advanced Diploma qualification (or equivalent) in Commercial Cookery or related field, together with at least two years of full-time relevant work experience;
OR
- At least three years of full-time relevant work experience in lieu of formal qualifications.
Skills and Experience Required:
- Demonstrated knowledge of culinary techniques and commercial kitchen operations
- Understanding of menu planning and recipe development
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Ability to supervise and support kitchen staff in a fast-paced environment
- Creativity and passion for producing high-quality dishes and menu offerings
- Sound knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations
- Ability to work under pressure while maintaining attention to detail
- Excellent knife-handling and food preparation skills
- Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office (Excel and Outlook)
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Availability to work evenings, weekends and public holidays as required
