About Us
Burnside Snack Bar is a busy and well-established quick-service restaurant located
in Ormeau on the Gold Coast. We are committed to delivering high-quality food and
exceptional customer service in a fast-paced environment. We are currently seeking
a motivated and enthusiastic Cook to join our kitchen team. The role reports directly
to the Head Chef and provides practical, hands-on training across all areas of
commercial kitchen operations.
About the Role
This is a full-time training position designed for an individual who is passionate about
developing a career as a Cook. Working alongside experienced chefs/cooks and
managing all aspects of kitchen operations while contributing to the day-to-day
success of the business.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and cook menu items in accordance with established recipes and
presentation standards.
Maintain high standards of food quality, consistency and portion control.
Assist with food preparation for daily kitchen operations.
Accommodate customer dietary requirements where required.
Maintain food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety standards.
Assist with stock rotation, inventory control and ordering.
Minimise food waste and contribute to cost control initiatives.
Maintain a clean, organised and efficient kitchen.
Work collaboratively with the Head Chef and kitchen team during busy service
periods.
Participate in ongoing workplace training and skills development.
About You
To be successful in this role you will have:
3 years of experience in the kitchen as a cook
A genuine passion for cooking and the hospitality industry.
A willingness to learn and develop practical commercial cookery skills.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
The ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Strong time management and organisational skills.
A positive attitude with a commitment to maintaining high standards.
Understanding of basic food safety and hygiene practices (preferred but not
essential).
