About the Role
As a Disability Support Worker at One Care Priority, you will be at the forefront of our mission, which is to provide comprehensive care that caters to the physical, emotional, cultural and social needs of our participants with a person-centred approach. Your role will be to promote independence, and dignity and create an environment where everyone feels respected and fulfilled.
Main Duties /Responsibilities:
· Provide personalized assistance to every participant based on their individualized care plan and as per the given directions.
· Support participants to access activities and outings in the community.
· Provide transport to participants as required or requested.
· Conduct general cleaning duties as required or requested.
· Cook nutritious meals and assist participants while following food safety guidelines.
· Adhere to medication administration, health and safety, and client privacy policies.
· Ensure completion of appropriate documentation. Relevant information on support provided is to be recorded in client notes and communication books as required.
· Collaborate with clients, family and relevant professionals to achieve individual goals.
· Participate in the Performance Development meetings to identify any ongoing training and support opportunities.
· Report any quality and safety incidents or hazards at work to their Manager or Supervisor.
· Keep themselves fully informed of the contents of the NDIS system and apply it to daily work.
Skills & Experience
To be successful as a disability support worker, it is important to have a true passion for helping people with disabilities and a genuine desire to improve their quality of life and help them reach their full potential. You should also have a solid understanding of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and be fully committed to its principles.
In addition, you must have:
· Certificate III in Disability, Individual Support or equivalent.
· At least 1 year of experience in the Disability sector
. Full-time working rights in Australia
· Excellent communication skills are a must, including a high level of proficiency in English and numeracy.

- Ability to maintain composure in high-stress environments
- Extroverted attitude to be able to engage with multiple participants positively
- Interest in multiple ‘hobbies’ or ‘activities’ that participants may find interesting
- Creative and innovative mindset
- Ability to use different behavioural tools to diffuse situations or to avoid behaviours of concern (redirection, first/then, repetition, reinforcement etc)
- Well spoken
- Engage well with animals (pets), and members of all age groups
- Ability to withhold prejudices and opinions and be ‘open-minded’ to different points of views
Essential Criteria
· NDIS Worker Check
· Police Check
· First Aid, CPR &Manual Handling certificates
· Assist with Medication training
· Valid Driver's License
. National Police Check
· Completion of NDIS Worker Orientation Module
· Australian Driver's Licence and own car with comprehensive insurance, and a willingness to use it for transporting clients (where required)
