The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Transport Sector for an experienced Mechanical Technician to join our team at the Western Sydney Airport.
In this role, you will be responsible for the routine inspection, maintenance, testing, fault finding and reporting of mechanical systems and equipment associated with the airport’s water treatment facilities. As the site develops, the role will also expand to support broader facilities maintenance activities.
Start Date: As soon as possible
Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00am–3:00pm
On-Call: Rotating roster – 1 week on call, followed by 2 weeks off

Key Accountabilities
-
Inspect, maintain, test and fault-find mechanical systems and equipment at water treatment facilities.

Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on pumps, motors, valves, dosing and rotating equipment.

Maintain wastewater, recycled water and associated infrastructure.

Diagnose faults and implement corrective actions, including installation, overhaul and commissioning.

Record maintenance, inspections, testing and asset information in maintenance systems.

Support commissioning, shutdowns, planned outages and Electrical Technicians.

Coordinate specialist contractors and maintenance activities.

Participate in emergency response and after-hours call-outs as required.

Ensure all work complies with WHS, environmental and airport operational requirements.
About You
We are looking for a safety-focused and experienced Mechanical Technician who is comfortable working independently while contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Essential Requirements:

Australian Citizen and eligible to obtain and maintain a Baseline Security Clearance.

Certificate III in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Fitter and Turner trade qualification.

Current NSW Driver Licence.

Previous experience working within water or wastewater treatment facilities.

Experience with pumps, rotating equipment, valves, dosing systems and associated process equipment.

Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
Desirable:

Current First Aid, CPR and LVR training.
-
Working at Heights certification.

Confined Spaces certification.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.
