We are seeking a Senior Payroll Officer to join our team and play a key role in delivering accurate, compliant and efficient payroll services across our Farms and Support Services business units.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced payroll professional who enjoys working across end-to-end payroll, compliance, systems administration and process improvement, while also supporting and developing the wider payroll team.
Reporting to the Group Payroll & Compliance Manager, you will provide senior-level support across day-to-day payroll operations, compliance initiatives, systems administration and key payroll projects.
You will be responsible for ensuring payrolls are processed accurately and on time, while identifying opportunities to improve processes, strengthen compliance and build capability across the payroll function.
- Oversee end-to-end payroll processing across Farms and Support Services business units.
- Review and sign off payroll runs, ensuring accuracy, completeness and compliance prior to payment.
- Support, coach and provide guidance to Payroll Officers in their day-to-day processing.
- Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies and errors.
- Support the Group Payroll & Compliance Manager with compliance, governance and project priorities.
- Manage payroll system administration and support system improvements.
- Prepare for and manage the Time & Attendance (T&A) system as it transitions from HR to Payroll.
- Provide additional BAU payroll support during peak periods, leave and other periods of increased workload.
- Identify and assist in resolving compliance risks, process gaps and manual errors.
- Contribute to building payroll knowledge and capability across the team.
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- 5+ years' payroll experience, preferably within a heavy industry environment such as agriculture, manufacturing or construction.
- Strong knowledge of payroll compliance and governance.
- Strong experience working with multiple Awards and Enterprise Agreements.
- Experience working with enterprise payroll and Workforce Management (WFM) systems.
- Experience in system implementation and process improvement.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a strong focus on accuracy.
- The ability to confidently move between compliance, systems and hands-on payroll operations.
- A collaborative approach and the ability to work closely with the existing Payroll Manager and broader team.
- Strong communication, problem-solving and organisational skills.
