About Powerhouse
Powerhouse Museum is located at the intersection of arts, design, science, and technology and plays a critical role in engaging communities with contemporary ideas and issues. It is the custodian of more than half a million objects of national and international significance and is considered one of the finest and most diverse collections in Australia. We are undertaking a landmark $1.3 billion infrastructure renewal program, led by the creation of Powerhouse Parramatta; expanded research and public facilities at Powerhouse Castle Hill; the heritage revitalisation of the iconic Powerhouse Ultimo; and the ongoing operation of Sydney Observatory.
About the Role
We are looking for friendly, energetic and customer-focused people to join the Powerhouse Retail team. In this role, you will create a welcoming and engaging shopping experience, helping customers with product enquiries and purchases while bringing the Powerhouse brand to life. You will process sales, refunds and exchanges, maintain a clean and well-presented store, replenish stock and support day-to-day retail operations. This is a fast-paced, hands-on role where you will work closely with the team to deliver great customer experiences across Powerhouse retail stores and pop-ups.
About You
You are someone who genuinely enjoys connecting with people and providing great customer service. You bring warmth, enthusiasm and a positive, can-do attitude to every interaction and thrive in a busy environment. You are reliable, organised and enjoy working as part of a team, while being confident taking initiative when needed. You are comfortable learning POS systems and retail procedures, handling transactions and supporting stock movement and replenishment. Experience in retail, hospitality, visitor experience or customer service is essential, while experience with POS, merchandising or inventory is desirable. An interest in design, culture, museums, creative industries or retail products is a bonus.
