The Opportunity:
We’re seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Low Voltage and Control Engineer with expertise in Low Voltage and Control Systems delivery to join our KBR Electrical Engineering & Consulting Team based in Sydney. You’ll be a key technical leader, driving the design and delivery of electrical systems across our six market sectors: Transport, Energy, Resources, Water, Defence & Buildings and Sustainable Solutions.
This is a high-impact role that supports the safety, quality, and performance of critical infrastructure projects across the nation.
Key Responsibilities:

Technical Delivery & Leadership: Lead the technical delivery of LV electrical distribution and customized control system designs across infrastructure projects, with a strong focus on Transport and Water sectors.

Specialised System Design: Drive the design of Motor Control Centres (MCC), Local Control Panels (LCP), Pump Control Systems, and Shore Supply Control Systems featuring tailored interlocking, power transfer, and sequence logic.

Design Calculations & Modelling: Perform detailed LV calculations, cable sizing, protection coordination, and system modelling using industry-standard software.

Documentation & Specifications: Prepare robust technical specifications, single-line diagrams (SLDs), control schematics, wiring diagrams, and functional design specifications (FDS).

Standards & Compliance: Ensure all designs comply with relevant Australian Standards (e.g., AS/NZS 3000, AS/NZS 61439, AS/NZS 3008) and client-specific infrastructure technical standards (e.g., TfNSW, Sydney Water, WaterNSW).

Cross-Discipline Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with civil, mechanical, SCADA/Instrumentation, and process engineers, as well as clients and contractors, to deliver integrated project outcomes.

Mentorship & Quality Control: Provide design review, technical guidance, and mentorship to junior and mid-level engineers.
About You:
-
Established experience in LV electrical and control system engineering within the infrastructure, transport, or water sectors.

Deep experience in LV distribution, Motor Control Centre (MCC) design, Local Control Panel (LCP) layout, hardwired control schematics, relay logic, and interlocks.

Proven hands-on experience designing specific control solutions such as Pump Control (duty/standby, VFD/Soft Starter integration) and Shore Supply Control (power changeover, safety interlocks, isolation systems).

Proficient in electrical design, calculation, and modelling tools such as PowerCAD, ETAP, or SKM PowerTools.

Strong problem-solving capabilities, excellent client-facing skills, and a track record of meeting project schedules and budget milestones.

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent). CPEng accreditation with Engineers Australia (or active eligibility).

Experience or familiarity with PLC / SCADA functional requirements (interfaces between hardware controls and automation systems) is ideal.

Prior experience in Building Services electrical design or Interior / Exterior Lighting Design experience (e.g., AGi32, Dialux) for building or road projects is favourable.
