CatholicCare is expanding in
Wagga Wagga, and we’re looking for enthusiastic, creative, heart‑driven Youth Workers to help shape it, grow it, and give back to the Community!
The ideal person for this role would be flexible, adaptable and someone who brings new ideas and is proactive in their approach. Working with young people displaying highly complex and challenging behaviours, requires you to build rapport quickly and remain non-judgmental. This also requires you to have resilience and good professional boundaries. Candidates with transferrable skills from working with vulnerable people who display challenging behaviours are strongly encouraged to apply.
You’ll participate in a 24/7 rotating roster (mornings, afternoons, nights, 3 sleepovers per fortnight and will be rostered every 2nd weekend). Your roster will be set to repeat every fortnight to bring consistency to the young people in your care. We are offering permanent part time positions, a minimum of 60 hours per fortnight with an option to pick up extra shifts!
What You’ll Do:
- Be a trailblazer — help design and deliver an inspiring program for young people aged 12–17.
- Build relationships that matter, offering support, encouragement, and a safe space for youth to thrive.
- Bring fresh ideas and energy to help kickstart a vibrant, engaging local community.
- Work hands‑on with young people through activities, mentoring, workshops, and events.
- Ready to try new things, problem‑solve on the fly, and celebrate every win (big or small).
What we are looking for:
- Cert III, IV or Diploma in Community Services or Youth Work.
- Experience supporting individuals with disabilities or trauma is highly valued.
- Strong understanding of trauma-informed care.
- Ability to build trust, maintain boundaries, and use behaviour support strategies.
- Excellent report writing and safeguarding practices.
- Hold a valid NSW Driver’s Licence + comprehensively insured vehicle.
- Working With Children Check.
- First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
What's in it for you?
- Salary packaging – pay less income tax and have more money for the things that matter.
- Fitness Passport program – discounted memberships at a wide range of gyms and fitness facilities.
- Training & Development – Ongoing learning opportunities to grow your career.
- Employee Assistance Program – Free, confidential counselling and support.
- Bupa Health – Corporate health care cover discounts.
- Extra Leave – Additional paid leave day over Christmas.
- Hope Awards – Be recognised and celebrated for your impact.
