Muscat Trailers is an Australian, family owned and operated business currently on the lookout for an enthusiastic Heavy Vehicle Spray Painter / Labourer to join our highly motivated and busy, Heavy Vehicle Manufacturing team.

To be successful in this role you must be reliable, able to work without constant guidance and be proactive. You will be expected to be able to work unsupervised, as well as assist our other tradesmen as required;
- Performs coating and painting applications and other tasks relative to industrial coatings on truck chassis and trailer chassis.
- Applying paint, varnish and other finishes to protect, maintain and decorate surfaces of trucks, trailers and other structures as required. These skills will be utilised in both the manufacturing of new equipment and also in the repairs department.
- Sanding surfaces by hand when needed.
- Masking areas not to be painted with tape and paper.
- Applying primer and finishing coats using spray guns, and sanding surfaces between coats to enhance the finished product.
- Ensure all product produced for the company is prepared well and coated with the correct type of paint.
- Sealing and preparing of componentry.
- Unload and load spray booth / blast booth.
- Disassembly and reassembly of components as required to carry out the painting and blasting functions.
- Repair surfaces to be sprayed/painted.
- Prepare surfaces for sandblasting by cleaning them of debris and masking specific areas that should not be blasted.
- Select the appropriate abrasive material based on the type of surface being treated and the desired finish.
- Operate sandblasting equipment safely and efficiently to remove rust, scale, paint, or other coatings from surfaces.
- Adjust the pressure and angle of the sandblasting nozzle to achieve the desired surface finish without damaging the underlying material.
- Maintain appropriate paint-stock inventory in line with business and statutory requirements.
- Weekly meetings with paint representative (normally Monday)
- Ensure quality of work, undertaking of high standards.
- Work within specified time frames.
- Perform work under limited supervision, either individually or in a team environment.
- To ensure that completed tasks meet statutory responsibilities relating to Environmental Quality and WHS requirements exercising safe work practises with regard for self, others and property.
- To treat all equipment with respect, return it to its rightful place when not in use and report all defects to your supervisor immediately.
- Accountable for ensuring all PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) that is required to be worn at all times.
- General housekeeping - accountable for the general cleanliness of the workshop and tool cleanliness and return on a daily basis, to maintain a safe and clean working environment
