The opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Senior Metallurgist to join our high performing Processing Team at our Duketon South Operations.
Reporting to the Metallurgy Superintendent, you will be responsible for supervising and managing the Metallurgy Department's activities and resources while working closely with the Operations and Maintenance personnel to ensure the ore processing facilities operate safely, efficiently and in-line with performance targets.
This is a FIFO role (8:6 roster) from Perth.
Key Responsibilities
Driving a strong safety culture through safety field leadership interactions and Critical Control Verifications
Identifying, executing and reporting on continuous improvement initiatives through plant analysis, laboratory test work and plant trials to optimise gold production and reagent consumption
Providing technical support and guidance across the plants, including but not limited to crushing, grinding, CIL, gravity and gold recovery circuits
Preparing weekly and monthly metallurgical and production reconciliation reports
Assisting with the management of the Tailings Storage Facility and supporting compliance requirements
Managing internal and external metallurgical test work programs to evaluate ore characteristics and future orebody performance
Preparing business cases and financial assessments for OPEX and CAPEX improvement projects
Supporting annual budgeting and forecasting activities in the Processing Department
Managing site laboratory QA/QC systems and overseeing laboratory operations when required
Supervising, mentoring and developing metallurgists, metallurgical technicians and laboratory personnel
Acting as the back-to-back for the Metallurgy Superintendent
Skills and Experiences:
About You
Tertiary qualifications in metallurgy/chemical engineering/process engineering
Demonstrated experience as Senior Metallurgist or Senior Process Engineer
A strong commitment to safety and a genuine desire to foster a Zero Harm culture
A high-performing individual and self-starter
Proven experience working within a high performing Processing and Metallurgical Teams Team
Demonstrated capability to coach, mentor and develop metallurgists, metallurgical technicians and laboratory personnel
Proven Gold processing experience including crushing, milling, gravity recovery and CIL essential
Proven track records in improving recovery, throughput and managing projects
Strong knowledge of metallurgical accounting systems
Strong knowledge of process control systems such as SCADA, PI Historian and ASRI
Excellent problem-solving, communication and stakeholder engagement skills
