About Hilustre
Hilustre is a well-established powder coating business based in Thomastown. We work with trade customers, fabricators, and manufacturers across Victoria, delivering high-quality surface finishing on everything from architectural metalwork to industrial components. We’ve been doing this for a long time, and the people who work here tend to stick around. It’s that kind of place.
We’re a working factory - not a corporate office - and we take pride in doing things properly. If you’re someone who shows up reliably, takes care of the work in front of you, and wants to be part of a team that values quality over shortcuts, you’ll fit in here.
The Role
This is a hands-on production role at the heart of our coating operation. You’ll be working on the floor alongside an experienced team, handling materials through the coating line - from unloading and prepping through to packing finished product. No two days are identical, and the work is physical and practical.
You don’t need to know anything about powder coating before you start. We’ll teach you what you need to know. What we can’t teach is reliability, a strong work ethic, and the ability to take direction and work safely. Those need to come with you.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Unloading finished product from the automatic coating line and packing it for dispatch
- Preparing materials for coating - cleaning and prepping surfaces to the required standard
- Loading materials onto coating lines in line with production schedules
- Operating a forklift to move and position materials within the factory (if you hold an LF licence)
- Monitoring coated product for quality - flagging anything that doesn’t meet our standards
- Receiving and checking incoming goods and keeping the receiving area organised
- Following all WHS procedures and contributing to a safe working environment
About You
We’re not overly prescriptive about what’s on your resume - attitude and reliability matter more to us than experience. That said, here’s what we’re looking for:
You’ll be a strong fit if you:
- Are physically fit and comfortable performing demanding manual work across a full shift
- Take pride in doing things properly the first time - quality matters here
- Show up on time, every time. Our production line runs to a schedule, and the team depends on everyone being present
- Can follow instructions clearly and work safely without needing to be watched
- Hold an LF Forklift licence and/or MR truck licence - a genuine advantage, but not a dealbreaker
- Have worked in a factory, warehouse, or trade environment before - useful but not required
What We Offer
- Consistent, regular hours with an early Friday finish - every week
- A stable, established business with a loyal customer base - steady work, not boom-and-bust
- A genuine team environment where you’re known and valued
- On-the-job training in our processes, equipment, and quality standards - no prior powder coating knowledge needed
- Competitive pay, discussed at interview based on experience and licences held
Working Hours
Monday – Thursday: 7:00am – 3:30pm
Friday: 7:00am – 1:00pm
Consistent hours, every week. Early mark on Fridays — every week.
