Making a Difference, One Child at a Time — Senior Clinical Psychologist!
This is a permanent, Senior Clinical Psychologist position embedded within the Child Assessment Team (CAT), part of the Southern Adelaide Local Health Network. The role offers an opportunity to lead specialist psychological and neurodevelopmental assessments for children and adolescents with complex developmental, behavioural and emotional needs, while working alongside an experienced multidisciplinary team committed to delivering high-quality, family-centred care.
About the role:
Reporting to the Child Development Services Manager, you will provide clinical leadership in the assessment and diagnosis of children and adolescents with complex neurodevelopmental presentations. You will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to deliver integrated, evidence-based care, while also providing supervision and support to junior and less experienced staff.
Key responsibilities include:
Providing specialist clinical psychology assessment, diagnostic and consultation services for children and adolescents with complex neurodevelopmental needs.
Acting as a recognised clinical expert in the assessment of conditions such as autism spectrum disorder (ASD), intellectual disability, global developmental delay and specific learning disorders.
Conducting comprehensive assessments to support timely diagnosis, prognosis and evidence-based treatment recommendations for referred paediatric clients.
Providing high-level clinical advice and consultancy services to colleagues, families and other professionals.
Applying advanced clinical expertise to the management of complex cases and contributing to service improvement initiatives.
Working with a high degree of professional autonomy and providing advice to the Child Development Services Manager and CAT Coordinator regarding the effective use of psychology resources within the team.
Providing clinical supervision, mentoring and teaching to psychology staff and students.
About you:
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate extensive experience in paediatric clinical psychology and specialist expertise in the assessment of neurodevelopmental disorders.
You will have:
A degree qualification recognised by the Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA) and current general registration as a Psychologist.
Clinical Psychology Area of Practice Endorsement with the Psychology Board of Australia.
Advanced skills in the assessment of children with complex developmental, cognitive and behavioural presentations.
Demonstrated expertise in the assessment and management of neurodevelopmental disorders, including autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disability, developmental delay and learning disorders.
Broad post-graduate experience working with paediatric clients with complex needs.
Experience providing clinical supervision, mentoring and education to students and less experienced clinicians.
A strong understanding of child development theory, assessment frameworks and evidence-based practice.
Knowledge of paediatric psychology services and relevant service interfaces across South Australia.
Excellent communication, consultation and multidisciplinary teamwork skills.
