Director – Data & Platform Engineering

Our AI & Data team comprises more than 500 specialist practitioners across Australia, each of whom are constantly curious and excited about combining their business acumen and technological expertise to create AI and data-centric solutions that help solve complex problems and transform or reinvent our clients’ business.

Enough about us, let's talk about you
We are seeking a Director - Data & Platform Engineering to lead enterprise-scale data transformation programs, shape technology strategy, and build high-performing engineering teams. You will combine deep technical expertise with executive stakeholder engagement to help clients modernise their data platforms and unlock value from Data & AI investments.
What you'll bring
15+ years' experience across Data Engineering, Platform Engineering, Analytics, and Cloud technologies, including Databricks, Snowflake, AWS, Azure, and/or GCP.
At least 3 industry certifications across cloud, data, platform engineering, or architecture technologies.
Proven experience leading large-scale data and platform transformation programs, from strategy through delivery.
Strong consulting and client-facing experience, with the ability to influence C-level and senior stakeholders.
Technical Expertise
Deep expertise in Apache Spark (PySpark preferred) , SQL, and dbt .
Experience designing and implementing modern data platforms, including data lakes, lakehouses, and data warehouses.
Strong experience with data ingestion, integration, and streaming architectures.
Hands-on experience across AWS and/or Microsoft Azure .
Strong understanding of databases, cloud-native data platforms, governance, security, and platform engineering best practices.
Experience defining architecture standards, automation frameworks, DevOps, and CI/CD capabilities.
Leadership & Delivery
Proven experience leading large delivery teams across complex transformation programs.
Experience managing senior technical counterparts, architects, and executive stakeholders.
Track record of mentoring and developing engineering leaders and technical teams.
Strong commercial acumen with experience supporting business development, solutioning, and strategic pursuits.
Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills.
Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, dynamic consulting environment.
Highly Regarded
Advanced certifications across Databricks, AWS, Azure, GCP, or Snowflake.
Experience leading enterprise-scale cloud, data, and platform modernisation initiatives.
Demonstrated practice-building, capability development, and thought leadership experience.
