MERCHANDISE PLANNER - SYDNEY
An exciting opportunity has become available for a commercially minded Merchandise Planner to join a fast-paced and growing retail business within the fashion and lifestyle space.
This role is ideal for a Planner looking to further develop their career in a high-volume environment, partnering closely with Buying, Retail, and eCommerce teams to drive sales, margin, and inventory performance across the business.
Reporting into senior leadership within Planning, you’ll play a key role in managing merchandise financial plans, forecasting performance, optimising stock flow, and delivering actionable commercial insights. This is a highly collaborative role with strong exposure across the wider business and genuine opportunity for long-term career growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and manage merchandise financial plans, forecasts, and in-season replans
- Manage OTB and stock investment to support sales and margin targets
- Analyse weekly trade performance, identifying risks and opportunities
- Partner with Buying teams on assortment and option planning strategies
- Monitor inventory health including sell-through, weeks of cover, replenishment, and aged stock
- Support markdown and promotional strategies to optimise performance
- Prepare trade reporting and provide commercial recommendations to stakeholders
- Collaborate closely with Retail and eCommerce teams to align stock to demand
About You
- 3+ years’ experience within Merchandise Planning or Allocations
- Strong analytical and commercial planning capability
- Experience managing OTB, forecasting, and inventory performance
- Confident using Excel and planning/reporting systems
- Understanding of key retail metrics including sales, margin, stock turn, and sell-through
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders
- Proactive, organised, and highly collaborative in your approach
