Our Client, The Trustee for Atwal Family Trust is seeking a skilled Agricultural Technician to join the team in Bucca NSW.
Tasks Include:
- Monitor and maintain hydroponic production systems, including irrigation, climate control, lighting, temperature, humidity, and nutrient delivery systems to optimise crop growth and productivity.
- Monitor and analyse pH, Electrical Conductivity (EC), water quality, and nutrient levels, and prepare nutrient and chemical requirements in accordance with crop production schedules.
- Assess crop health and growth performance by identifying nutrient deficiencies and administering appropriate nutrient formulations, including nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, magnesium, iron, zinc, boron, and other trace elements.
- Implement integrated pest, disease, and preventative control programs through regular crop inspections and the application of appropriate treatments to minimise production losses.
- Develop and implement spray and treatment schedules in line with crop growth stages and harvesting requirements to effectively manage pests, diseases, and nutritional deficiencies.
- Collect and analyse soil, water, and plant tissue samples to assess growing conditions, nutrient availability, and overall crop performance, and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Assist in the development and implementation of improved planting, fertilising, irrigation, and harvesting techniques to enhance crop yield, quality, and operational efficiency.
- Conduct trials and evaluations of various cultivation methods, including hydroponic systems, substrate growing, greenhouse production, and open-field cultivation to determine the most effective production practices.
- Provide technical support and production data to Agronomists and Farm Management by maintaining accurate records of crop performance, nutrient applications, pest management activities, and production outcomes.
- Monitor crop development throughout the growing cycle and recommend corrective actions to maintain optimum plant health, fruit quality, and production targets.
- Assist with the introduction of new crop varieties, production technologies, and growing techniques aimed at increasing productivity, sustainability, and commercial performance.
Qualifications and Requirements
· A Diploma level qualification in Horticulture or equivalent work experience
· 3 years of relevant experience working as a Crop Technician
· Ability to work independently and without supervision.
· Ability to problem solve and have critical thinking skills.
· Must have a keen eye for details with ability to pick smallest imperfections.
· Excellent oral communication skills.
Pay: $80,000.00 – $101,148.82 per year
