Cessnock City Council is seeking a Risk and Insurance Officer to join our Corporate Governance team.
With a broad range of responsibilities, this role will see you involved in everything from managing insurance claims and supporting renewals to investigating matters and providing advice across Council. You’ll work closely with internal teams, insurers and other stakeholders to help manage risk and ensure insurance matters are handled effectively.
As a Risk and Insurance Officer, you will:
- Coordinate insurance claims and liaise with stakeholders and insurers.
- Investigate insurance matters and attend claim sites when required.
- Maintain Council's risk and insurance systems and records.
- Prepare reports, correspondence and recommendations.
- Assist with insurance renewals and reporting requirements.
- Contribute to risk and insurance policies, procedures and improvement initiatives.
To be successful in this role, you'll have experience in risk, insurance, compliance, administration or a related field, along with strong communication skills and excellent attention to detail. You'll be confident managing sensitive matters, working with a range of stakeholders and applying relevant legislation and compliance requirements.
A Certificate IV in Business Administration or a related discipline, together with comphrensive experience in a similar role, is required.
Experience in local government, insurance claims or a regulated environment will be highly regarded.

$73,635 - $85,261 per annum, plus superannuation.
