Deputy National Retail Manager / Senior State Manager NSW
SHEIKE | Full Time | NSW-based — national travel required | Reporting to the National Retail Manager | $145,000 + superannuation
About SHEIKE
At SHEIKE, we believe every day can turn into a style statement. For over two decades we've been dressing Australian women to feel confident, feminine and empowered — from the first day of a new job to a wedding, a milestone birthday, or just a great Tuesday. Today, SHEIKE operates boutiques across every state, backed by a Head Office team in St Peters, NSW, that lives and breathes fashion, community and connection.
We're proudly people-focused, passionate about developing talent, and committed to empowering our team to lead with confidence. Our boutiques are where the magic happens — and our people are at the heart of it all.
We're now looking for a proven, senior retail leader to step into one of the most significant field roles in our business — Deputy National Retail Manager / Senior State Manager NSW.
The Opportunity
This is the most senior in-market role in SHEIKE's retail structure, second only to the National Retail Manager. You'll run your own portfolio of NSW boutiques with full trading, people and operational accountability — while also carrying genuine network-wide responsibility as the National Retail Manager's second-in-command.
That means mentoring other State Managers, piloting new initiatives ahead of national rollout, representing the National Retail Manager at Executive and Head Office forums, and stepping into their shoes — with real delegated authority — whenever they're on leave or unavailable. You'll be the proven operator trusted to run the business when the National Retail Manager can't be everywhere at once.
If you're a strong State Manager ready for the next step — one that goes beyond your own patch and into shaping the standard for the whole network — this is that step.
A Day in the Life
No two days look exactly the same, but a typical week might include:
-
Walking your own NSW boutiques, coaching Area Boutique Leaders and reviewing trading performance against budget.
-
Jumping on a call with State Managers in other states to share what's working and lift consistency across the network.
-
Stepping in to represent the National Retail Manager at a Head Office trading meeting.
-
Mentoring a newer State Manager through a tricky people or performance situation.
-
Making a time-critical call on stock, rostering or loss prevention while deputising — within your delegated authority.
Key Responsibilities
-
State & Multi-Store Trading Performance Own full trading accountability for your NSW portfolio — sales, conversion, ATV/UPT and wage % to budget — while also reviewing performance and sharing practical approaches with State Managers in other states to lift consistency across the network.
-
People Leadership, Succession & Capability Identify high performers and put forward succession recommendations, coach and address underperformance early, and mentor other State Managers on people leadership, coaching technique and performance management practice.
-
Customer Experience & Brand Standards Set the standard for a high-energy, compelling in-store brand experience, and share observations across the network to lift customer experience standards nationally.
-
Store Operations & Loss Prevention Own stock, back-of-house and loss prevention outcomes across your portfolio, with a higher delegated approval threshold than other State Managers reflecting the seniority of this role.
-
Visual Merchandising Partnership Maintain a close working relationship with the Visual Merchandising team and share execution insights with other State Managers to support consistent standards network-wide.
-
Communication & Deputy Leadership Be the trusted, senior field voice with Head Office — and when formally deputising for the National Retail Manager, lead the retail field function, represent the business at Executive and Trading meetings, and make time-critical operational calls within your delegated authority.
What Success Looks Like
-
Strong state trading performance against budget, treated as the outcome of consistent execution and coaching.
-
Seamless deputy coverage during National Retail Manager leave or absence — no drop in field standards, communication or Head Office representation.
-
Visible growth in other State Managers you've coached and mentored, strengthening SHEIKE's national field leadership bench.
-
Consistent adoption of shared best practice and pilot initiatives across the wider State Manager cohort.
-
High customer experience standards and strong store compliance sustained across your portfolio.
What You'll Bring
-
Proven experience as a State Manager or senior multi-site retail leader, ideally within fashion or specialty retail.
-
A strong track record running trading, people and operational performance across a multi-store portfolio.
-
Genuine coaching and mentoring instincts — you build other leaders up, not just your own results.
-
The credibility and composure to represent senior leadership at Head Office and Executive forums.
-
Comfort operating with real delegated authority and sound judgement on when to act and when to escalate.
-
Willingness to travel nationally in support of network-wide initiatives, alongside strong presence across your NSW portfolio.
Why SHEIKE
-
The most senior field-based role in SHEIKE's retail structure below the National Retail Manager.
-
Genuine exposure to Executive and Head Office leadership, with real delegated authority.
-
Career & Development Opportunities within a growing, iconic Australian brand.
-
Perks & Recognition, including a generous employee discount on our fabulous collection.
-
The chance to shape the leadership bench SHEIKE will rely on for years to come.
