Queenscliffe Hotel – Kangaroo Island, South Australia
The Queenscliffe Hotel is one of Kangaroo Island's leading hospitality venues, offering quality accommodation, dining, gaming, bottle shop and bar facilities. We are looking for a motivated and customer-focused Hospitality Worker to join our team on a full-time basis.
This is a diverse, hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working across multiple areas of a busy regional hotel while delivering outstanding customer service.
About the Role
As a Hospitality Worker, you will assist in the day-to-day operation of the hotel across a variety of departments. Duties may include some or all of the following:
Customer Service
- Provide exceptional customer service to all guests.
- Take reservations, greet and seat guests.
- Present menus and beverage lists.
- Promote hotel services, products and specials.
- Recommend wines, beers and beverages to complement meals.
Food & Beverage Service
- Take food and beverage orders accurately.
- Serve meals, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
- Prepare and serve cocktails, mixed drinks, bottled and draught beverages.
- Prepare a variety of espresso-based coffees including lattes, cappuccinos and other specialty coffees.
- Select and grind coffee beans.
- Open bottles and pour beverages professionally.
- Assist with wine, beer and spirit tastings where required.
Bar, Bistro & Venue Operations
- Set and arrange tables.
- Clear tables and return dishes, glassware and cutlery to the kitchen.
- Remove empty bottles and used glasses.
- Clean and maintain bar service areas, coffee stations and espresso machines.
- Wash and polish glassware.
- Tap kegs and replenish drink dispensers, refrigerators and shelves.
Bottle Shop & Retail
- Sell beverages and associated retail products.
- Stack and display stock.
- Prepare promotional displays and specials.
- Promote hotel products and services.
Gaming Operations
- Attend to and operate gaming machine terminals.
- Deliver excellent customer service while complying with Responsible Gambling requirements.
Cash Handling & Compliance
- Collect payments and operate EFTPOS and cash registers.
- Practise safe Workplace Health & Safety procedures.
- Comply with liquor licensing, food safety and relevant legislation.
- Maintain a current Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) qualification.
About You
To be successful, you will ideally have:
- Previous hospitality experience in a hotel, pub, restaurant or similar environment.
- A passion for customer service.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced team.
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Flexibility to work nights, weekends and public holidays.
- Current Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certificate (or willingness to obtain before commencement).
- Gaming, barista and bottle shop experience will be highly regarded but are not essential.
