Skills and Qualifications Required
The successful applicant should have:
- A Bachelor degree or higher qualification in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Production Engineering or a closely related field.
- At least 2 years of relevant experience in industrial engineering, production planning, manufacturing, factory operations, process improvement or workflow management.
- Strong knowledge of production systems, quality control, factory workflow and operational efficiency.
- Good understanding of labour use, machine use, material handling and production scheduling.
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings, production requirements and project specifications.
- Strong analytical, reporting and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication skills to work with estimators, factory staff, supervisors, installers and management.
- Experience in stone fabrication, construction materials, manufacturing or fit-out projects would be highly regarded.
Job Description
The Industrial Engineer will support Just Stone Australia’s factory and installation operations by improving production efficiency, reducing material waste, improving workflow and supporting better coordination between estimating, fabrication and installation teams.
The role will focus on reviewing current work methods, analysing production delays, improving use of machinery and labour, and helping the business deliver stone projects more efficiently and consistently.
Main Duties
- Analyse and improve the end-to-end stone fabrication workflow, from job confirmation and slab allocation to cutting, fabrication, quality control, dispatch and installation.
- Review factory operations to identify bottlenecks, delays, rework issues and inefficient work practices.
- Study labour utilisation, machine utilisation and workflow sequencing to improve factory productivity.
- Review cutting layouts, slab usage and material handling processes to reduce waste and improve yield.
- Assist with production planning and scheduling to ensure jobs move smoothly through the factory.
- Review and improve work methods, operating procedures and production standards.
- Support quality control processes to ensure fabricated stone products meet project specifications before delivery and installation.
- Assess factory layout, movement of materials and coordination between production stages to improve safety and efficiency.
- Prepare reports for management on production performance, labour efficiency, machinery use, quality issues and cost-saving opportunities.
- Liaise with estimators, production staff, supervisors, installers and management to improve communication between quoting, fabrication and delivery teams.
- Support continuous improvement projects to improve turnaround times, reduce rework and improve customer delivery outcomes.
Pay: $80,000.00 – $85,000.00 per year
