Your key responsibilities:
Provide expert statewide leadership, focus and direction to plan, develop, operationalise and evaluate policies, strategies and action planning documents to support the delivery of public health programs and services in Queensland consistent with national and state government strategies.
Optimise policy, strategy and program outcomes through multidisciplinary approaches which recognise and address the cognitive, social, structural and environmental drivers influencing health choices.
Provide authoritative advice to high level internal and external stakeholders, including Queensland Government senior executives, peak professional associations and bodies, in relation to a broad scope of matters.
Role fit
The essential requirements for this role are:
Demonstrated high level strategic leadership to drive and deliver strategic priorities and objectives through developing and overseeing the development, implementation and ongoing evaluation of statewide, equitable, public health policies, strategies, programs, services and activities.
Demonstrated high level understanding of behavioural science at individual, community and population levels and how insights can be applied to health promotion programs and strategies to improve effectiveness and outcomes.
Demonstrated expert ability to consult and provide authoritative expert advice and guidance on complex public health policy matters associated with large-scale, multi-partner and complex systems to internal and external stakeholders including government executives and peak organisations.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and an ability to build and maintain strong and effective working relationships across Queensland's public health system.
Outstanding written communication skills with demonstrated experience in writing strategic and operational plans, impactful reports and government briefs.
Outstanding leadership skills and an ability to mentor, inspire and empower staff in line with contemporary human resource and management practices.
