About the Role:
Working collaboratively with Heads of Department, middle leaders and teachers, the successful applicant will lead the implementation of the school's Pedagogical Improvement Cycle (PIC), oversee instructional coaching, and develop a high-performance culture focused on continuous improvement. The role requires sophisticated data literacy, using student achievement, growth, literacy, NAPLAN and classroom evidence to identify priorities, monitor impact and inform strategic decision making.
The position has direct responsibility for leading curriculum Heads of Department, the Head of Transitions and Enrichment, and key whole-school initiatives including literacy improvement, primary school partnerships, professional learning, NAPLAN improvement, teacher development and pedagogical quality assurance. The Deputy Principal will work alongside Executive colleagues to ensure alignment between teaching excellence, student wellbeing and the school's broader strategic priorities.
A key focus of the role is building leadership capability across the organisation. This includes coaching Heads of Department, embedding consistent instructional practices, developing data-informed inquiry cycles, leading classroom observation and feedback processes, and ensuring faculty teams use evidence to improve teaching and learning. The successful applicant will champion innovation while maintaining a relentless focus on implementation quality and measurable impact.
The role is also responsible for monitoring and reporting on key performance indicators including literacy growth, student learning growth, NAPLAN outcomes, faculty data dashboards and the effectiveness of school improvement initiatives. Working within the school's governance framework, the Deputy Principal will provide regular evidence-based reports to the Executive Leadership Team and contribute to strategic planning, staffing, recruitment and whole-school improvement.
The successful applicant will demonstrate outstanding instructional leadership, exceptional interpersonal capability and the ability to influence improvement through coaching rather than compliance. They will possess a strong understanding of contemporary curriculum, assessment and pedagogical research, together with proven experience leading sustainable improvement across teams. Most importantly, they will be committed to ensuring every classroom delivers high-quality teaching that enables every student to thrive, grow and succeed.
