About the role
We're looking for a reliable, experienced handyman to join our team as an ongoing subcontractor. You'll work across a wide variety of residential and commercial jobs - the majority of which begin with a site visit and written quotation before any work is approved.
Once a quote is accepted by the client, a work order will be issued, and you'll proceed with the job at a time that suits both parties. This is a flexible, ongoing arrangement suited to a self-motivated sole trader who takes pride in their work and communicates well with clients.
What you'll be doing
- Attending sites to assess scope and prepare accurate, itemised quotations
- Carrying out a broad range of general maintenance and repair tasks
- Completing jobs to a high standard with minimal supervision
- Communicating professionally with clients on-site
- Updating job status and submitting completion photos or notes as required
- Managing your own schedule around approved work orders
Skills & experience we're after
- Proven experience as a handyman
- Ability to quote confidently across a range of small-to-large tasks
- Strong general skills across carpentry, painting, tiling, plumbing minor repairs, and general fixes
- Excellent time management and reliability — you show up when you say you will
- Good communication skills — clients need to trust you from the first visit
- Own tools, vehicle, and appropriate insurances
- Phone for receiving work orders and submitting job updates via WhatsApp
Requirements
- Valid ABN (sole trader or company)
- Current public liability insurance (minimum $10M recommended)
- Current workers' compensation insurance (if applicable) (If workers' compensation insurance does not apply to you, we ask that you provide Income Protection Insurance)
- Relevant trade licences where applicable (e.g. electrical, plumbing endorsements)
- Full Australian working rights
Pay: $25.14 – $47.23 per hour
