The role
Reporting to the Production Manager, you’ll lead day‑to‑day manufacturing operations across designated production areas at our Rydalmere site. You will be accountable for safety, people leadership, output, quality and continuous improvement, while developing a capable team through strong frontline leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily production to plan, balancing safety, quality, delivery and cost
- Champion a safety‑first culture, including hazard identification, risk controls and incident follow‑up
- Lead, coach and develop Leading Hands and Operators (25–50 people)
- Drive quality outcomes through standard work, in‑process checks and structured problem solving
- Champion Lean and continuous improvement initiatives
- Coordinate breakdown response and support equipment and process improvements
- Monitor performance using MES and digital tools (OEE, downtime, scrap and labour utilisation)
- Plan workforce requirements, support onboarding and maintain skills and training matrices
- Support cost control, cross‑shift handovers and site-wide improvement projects
About you
You’re an experienced manufacturing leader who enjoys being visible, hands‑on and engaged on the shop floor. You thrive in fast‑paced, high‑volume environments and know how to balance people leadership with operational discipline.
You’ll bring:

- The ability to coach, challenge and support teams through change
- Certificate IV in Manufacturing, relevant trade qualification, or 5+ years’ experience in a manufacturing leadership role
- Proven experience leading frontline teams in a unionised manufacturing environment
- Working knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles
- Confidence using ERP/MRP systems (e.g. SAP), Excel and digital reporting tools
- Strong WHS knowledge with a visible commitment to safety leadership
- Timesheet and labour management experience (desirable)
