Job Overview:
The role of Employment Support Officer is integral to the success of business operations and ensures that organizational obligations are met in accordance with NDIS guidelines. As an Employment Support Officer, you will play a vital role in providing day-to-day support to people with disabilities (Supported Employees) to achieve their employment goals, build skills, and reach their full potential.
Reporting to the Manager Support Services (MSS), Employment Support Officers (ESOs) collaborate closely with the Manager Support Services (MSS), General Manager, and Production Support Officers (PSOs) to create a positive and motivating workplace culture, ensuring effective communication, teamwork, and timely resolution of day-to-day workplace challenges.
Alongside a heavy focus on the production of the business operations, the Employment Support Officer will provide workplace training to the supported employees to maintain a smooth workflow.

Key Responsibilities of this role include but not limited to
- Working closely with supported employees, families, peers and colleagues, provide practical day-to-day support, on the job training, coaching, and advocacy while helping create a safe, positive, inclusive and rewarding workplace environment.
- Build positive relationships with participants, families, guardians, and other stakeholders.
- Empower supported employees to build workplace skills, personal development and achieve their goals and Westcare’s production output.
- Comply with the requirements of NDIS, DSS, Westcare, Mosaic stakeholders (including guardians of our supported employees/people with disabilities (PWD)/NDIS participants) and other relevant Laws, Acts and Standards.
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individual Support Plans (ISPs) and employment goals. Provide one-on-one support as funded and as per ISP.
- Maintain accurate documentation, training attendance, case notes, and NDIS-related records.
- Assess and document the grading of supported PWD through time trials and completing and documenting benchmark timings as per the Supported Wage grade system alongside ESM & PSO support colleagues.
- Attend meetings with our supported PWD, guardians and OT to ensure we meet NDIS and Westcare’s requirements.
- Prepare NDIS reports and quotes for the schedule of supports at least six weeks prior to a NDIS Participant’s plan expiry, ensuring compliance with NDIS reporting standards.
- Collaborate with production teams to promote workplace safety, success, wellbeing, and productivity. Foster a positive workplace culture that values dignity, respect and inclusion.
- Support participants with behaviours of concern and provide tailored one-on-one assistance when required.
- Complete Service Agreements, when a new plan or roll over occurs.
- Uphold organisation’s Code of Conduct and Ethics Policy, NDIS Code of Conduct, follow organisational policies and procedures at all times.
To be successful in this position you will have –
- Cert III or Cert IV or Diploma in Disability and Individual Support or equivalent from an Australia accredited training organization
- Demonstrated experience in assisting supported employees during their employment
Desirable
- Demonstrated experience in preparing NDIS documentation and liaising with external stakeholders and PWDs.
- Strong Knowledge of National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)
- Ability to use Microsoft applications, i.e., Teams, Outlook (emails, calendar), OneDrive, Word, Excel, etc., with proven data entry experience. Demonstrable knowledge of work health and safety.
- Experience working in a production environment or an Australian Disability Enterprise
- Demonstrable knowledge of the principles of social role valorization, the rights of PWD, consumer rights, duty of care, dignity of risk, and the requirements of the National Disability Standards and the Disability Services Act
