We are seeking candidates for future temporary P04 Lawyer positions. We will assess applications regularly as temporary vacancies arise and if deemed suitable, you may be contacted to determine your interest and suitability in the role.

Below are some of the general key responsibilities and technical skills required for a P04 Lawyer with the ODCPL. If you are considered suitable for a position, you will be provided with a more specific role description at that point.
Your role:
Undertake child protection proceedings, including preparing court documents and advocating in hearings
Provide legal advice on court practices and procedures
Conduct legal research and draft legal documents for senior lawyers
Maintain compliance with quality and case management standards
Engage with stakeholders to foster relationships and enhance service delivery
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of child protection law
About you:
Court advocacy skills
Excellent research and writing abilities
Strong analytical and organisational skills
Ability to manage workload effectively and adapt to changing priorities
Ideally knowledge of or ability to acquire child protection litigation knowledge
Admission, or eligibility for immediate admission as a Legal Practitioner of the Supreme Court of Queensland, and enrolment or eligibility for enrolment to practice in the Federal and High Courts of Australia

$118,967 to $127,941 per year, plus 12.75% super
Temporary fixed-term contract with the possibility of extension

Additional information:
Be admitted as a Legal Practitioner of the Supreme Court of Queensland at least on a conditional basis within three months of the date of appointment
An Open C class driver's license is a requirement, with the ability to drive to local Court locations
Intrastate travel is required and includes same day and multi-day (overnight) travel * Submission of this expression of interest is not a guarantee that you will be offered employment with the ODCPL
