About the Role
As a Crane Operator, you will be responsible for operating cranes and lifting equipment safely and efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of workplace safety. Working closely with riggers, supervisors, and site personnel, you will ensure all lifting operations are planned, executed, and completed successfully.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and configure cranes in accordance with manufacturer specifications and operational requirements.
- Conduct pre-start inspections and routine safety checks to ensure equipment is in optimal working condition.
- Operate crane controls with precision and confidence during lifting operations.
- Inspect, prepare, and verify loads before lifting to ensure safe handling and transport.
- Perform routine cleaning, maintenance, and servicing of crane equipment and hoisting mechanisms.
- Set, align, level, and position heavy equipment and materials accurately.
- Monitor and maintain rigging equipment and lifting accessories.
- Coordinate effectively with rigging crews, spotters, and other crane operators during complex or multi-crane lifts.
- Complete job documentation and billing processes accurately.
- Maintain compliance with company policies, site requirements, and all applicable safety regulations.
- Communicate clearly via radio and hand signals to ensure safe and efficient operations.
What You'll Bring
- High School Certificate or equivalent qualification.
- Formal training and experience in rigging systems and lifting practices.
- Minimum age of 18 years.
- Current White Card issued by WorkSafe.
- Valid High-Risk Work Licence relevant to the crane types being operated.
- Current Commercial Driver's Licence.
- Strong understanding of Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) and OSH standards.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination, concentration, and situational awareness.
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations relevant to lifting operations.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Physical fitness and the ability to handle equipment and work in demanding environments.
- Willingness to work at heights, in noisy conditions, and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
