The Senior Market Access Manager leads market access, pricing, and reimbursement strategies for Biogen products across Australia and New Zealand. This role is responsible for securing and maintaining optimal reimbursement outcomes, leading submissions to key funding bodies (PBAC, MSAC, and PHARMAC), providing strategic advice on pipeline opportunities and pricing, and shaping market access policy. Reporting to the Head of Market Access ANZ, the role works cross-functionally with local, regional, and global stakeholders to support patient access and business growth. This is an individual contributor role with no direct reports.
- Reimbursement evidence and strategy
- Prepares reimbursement submissions to PBAC, MSAC and PHARMAC, either within Biogen or in collaboration with an external vendor (as required). This may also include submissions for state health department and hospital funding.
- Accountable for tracking individual projects, budgets, and deliverables, ensures alignment with MA Head and team
- Develops deep understanding of evidence, local clinical need, and treatment landscape
- Explores and makes recommendations for data generation and analyses, including real-world evidence to support reimbursement submissions and strategies.
- Integrates consumer and patient input into submissions and evidence plans, in line with evolving HTA expectations for consumer engagement
- Navigates optimal pricing pathways by leveraging global/regional guidance and approval process
- Support the business in business development activities where required
- Reimbursement Planning
- Support the business in advocating for pipeline product needs, particularly in relation to identified evidence gaps/needs, shaping Target Product Profile development and access to asset related resources (scientific platforms, patient journey mapping, value excellence materials, etc).
- Contributor and leader of pipeline teams to ensure integration of Market Access strategies and that the function is embedded within each individual strategy
- Contributes to business planning and review providing the Market Access perspective and integrate with the Marketing, Medical and External Affairs teams.
- In close collaboration with Head of Market Access, anticipates and manage future dynamics impacting market access policy and reimbursement including providing advice to internal stakeholders. This includes but is not limited to the following:
- Monitors and interprets implementation of the Strategic Agreement and Australian HTA Review and translates changes into submission timing and evidence plans.
- Tracks PHARMAC policy and process change in New Zealand, and reflects these in NZ access plans.
- Develops lifecycle market access strategies for reimbursed products, including indication or patient population expansions, pricing optimisation, and competitive defence planning.
- Pricing policy and execution
- Provides strategic pricing advice to the business, anticipating and identifies pricing risks
- Works together with the Market Access team to manage existing pricing processes (e.g. price disclosure, statutory price reductions, reference pricing, rebate management, RSA deed management, managed entry and outcomes-based agreements)
- Stakeholder management and policy
- Provides input to strategic business plan for stakeholder engagement to build and maintain strong and professional partnerships with the PBAC, MSAC and PHARMAC and Departments of Health
- Contributes to development of Biogen’s and the industry’s medicine and pricing policy position in collaboration with External Affairs and/ or industry groups
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field mandatory.
- Master’s degree strongly preferred in a science/analytic field, particularly epidemiology, Public Health, Health Economics.
- 5 or more years of biotech/pharmaceutical experience in a pricing‑ and/or reimbursement‑related role.
