What’s the role?
As Associate Director, Insurance & Investor Insights, you’ll play a key role in growing Westpac Institutional Bank’s Insurance franchise by managing and deepening relationships across a portfolio of priority insurance clients. Based in Sydney in a permanent, full-time position, this is a client-facing relationship management and origination role focused on identifying client needs, originating new opportunities and delivering tailored banking, capital markets, investment and risk solutions.
You’ll combine relationship management, commercial drive and industry insight to uncover opportunities that create value for clients and support sustainable revenue growth for WIB. You’ll work closely with teams across global FIG coverage, Products, Risk and Customer Insights & Analytics to mobilise the right expertise, lead internal deal teams and convert client priorities into executable opportunities.
You’ll be part of the global Financial Institutions & Government (FIG) coverage team, using your understanding of insurance markets, balance sheets, capital, liquidity, funding and investment themes to develop senior client conversations, increase share of wallet and strengthen WIB’s position as a trusted strategic adviser to priority insurance clients.
We’re interested in candidates from institutional banking, relationship management, structuring, advisory, markets, credit, insurance or other client-facing financial services backgrounds.
What do I need?
You’ll bring strong relationship-building skills, commercial drive and the ability to originate, shape and execute client opportunities by working across internal teams and senior client stakeholders.
- Strong relationship management and origination capability, ideally gained in institutional banking, financial services, structuring, advisory, markets, credit, or insurance.
- Ability to build trusted relationships and engage confidently with senior client stakeholders, including Treasury, Capital, Investments/CIO, CFO and broader executive stakeholders.
- Commercial mindset with the ability to identify client needs, develop strategic opportunities and convert insights into revenue-generating outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and collaborate across product, risk and insights/solutions teams to deliver client outcomes.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate complex financial, market, credit or regulatory information into clear, practical client ideas.
- Understanding of insurance, banking or financial services, including capital, liquidity, funding, balance sheet or investment concepts.
- Curiosity to build deeper sector knowledge and contribute to the continued growth of WIB’s global Insurance & Strategic Investors franchise.
