## Position Overview
We are looking for a skilled and reliable Locksmith to join our team, bringing hands-on expertise in the installation, maintenance, and repair of locks and security systems. The ideal candidate will be a problem-solver with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to delivering excellent service. You will work across residential, commercial, and automotive settings, often serving as the first point of contact for clients during security emergencies. This role suits a qualified tradesperson who takes pride in their craft and can work both independently and as part of a wider team.
## Key Responsibilities
- Install, service, and maintain a broad range of locks, deadbolts, padlocks, and electronic security systems to meet client requirements
- Dismantle and inspect precision locking mechanisms, identify faults, replace defective components, and reassemble units to the highest standard using hand tools, power tools, and specialist equipment
- Cut keys accurately and programme electronic key fobs, transponders, and smart access devices
- Open locked doors, safes, and vehicles through non-destructive entry techniques and manipulation, ensuring minimal damage to property
- Assess and advise clients on appropriate security solutions for their premises, taking into account risk level, budget, and compliance requirements
- Change and re-key lock cylinders and tumblers to meet client security needs following move-ins, security breaches, or lock upgrades
- Install and configure access control systems, intercom systems, CCTV entry points, and other integrated security hardware
- Respond promptly to emergency callouts, including lockouts and break-in repairs, providing a professional and reassuring service under pressure
- Prepare accurate quotes and cost estimates for repair, installation, and upgrade work, ensuring transparency and value for clients
- Maintain clear records of work completed, parts used, and client interactions for compliance and business reporting purposes
- Liaise with builders, property managers, and security consultants to coordinate lock installations during construction or refurbishment projects
- Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with Australian standards, workplace health and safety regulations, and relevant licensing requirements
## Required Qualifications & Skills
- Certificate III in Locksmithing (or equivalent recognised trade qualification)
- Current and valid Locksmith Licence issued by the relevant state or territory authority
- Demonstrated experience working across residential, commercial, and automotive locksmithing
- Proficient in the use of key-cutting machines, lock picks, and a broad range of hand and power tools
- Sound knowledge of mechanical and electronic locking systems, including master key systems and access control hardware
- Ability to diagnose faults accurately and carry out precise repairs with minimal supervision
- Strong customer service skills with a professional manner and clear communication
- Valid Australian driver's licence and willingness to travel to client sites
- Ability to pass a police background check as required for licensing and client-site access
- Good organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple jobs and priorities throughout the day
## Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with high-security lock brands such as Abloy, Mul-T-Lock, or Medeco
- Familiarity with electronic access control systems, including programming and fault-finding
- Additional certification in safe installation, manipulation, or servicing
- Experience working within the construction or facilities management sectors
- First Aid certificate or willingness to obtain one
- Prior experience preparing formal quotes and using trade management or scheduling software
